Translator’s Notes:
*(This song is super cute and I love whisper-singing along to it (because I can’t sing, haha)
*(I do not own the lyrics to this song – the lyrics belong to the writers. I used the Hanyu lyrics provided in the description box of the MV on the official Youtube video to translate the song. I did the Pinyin and Translation myself, however. This is purely a fan translation and I decided to translate Popu Lady’s new EP because I saw there were no other English translations and because I like the songs. I use Traditional Chinese characters just like they do in Taiwan because I prefer them to Simplified and I taught myself Chinese using Traditional characters. Please note that Chinese is not my first language so at times, my translation might be off, too literal, or wrong. I’m still learning, and I translate songs to gain experience, so I apologize in advance for any errors ^^)
*(To translate songs, I use an online Mandarin dictionary, an online Cantonese dictionary (it is a Canto-Mando, Mando-Canto, Canto-Eng, Mando-Eng, Pinyin-Jyutping, etc., dictionary and is VERY explanatory) and a paperback Mandarin dictionary.)
*(All the awkward spacing in the Pinyin is to show the different words. It is color-coded on my computer, but I can’t keep the colors T-T)
*(When a part of the translation is in parentheses, it means that that word is implied to make the translation sound better in English. Words will be implied because Chinese is much more vague than English and sometimes doesn’t make a whole lot of sense when translated literally.)
*(In the lines, “誰都住在同一個圓裡” and “是在誰的懷裡學會做夢”, I translated “誰” (Shéi) as “Everyone” and “Someone” instead of “Who” simply because those made more sense in the song than “Who.” I think if I used “Who” it would be too choppy and vague, so I chose to use “Someone” and “Everyone” to make the lyrics flow better.)
*(“誰” (Shéi) has two pronunciations, “Shéi” and “Shuí”. “Shei2” is standard Chinese pronunciation and “Shui” is the variant. Both pronunciations are correct and they mean the same thing, I just prefer to use “Shei2” instead of “Shui2” because I have never heard a native Chinese speaker use “Shui2” and I watch a lot of Chinese and Taiwanese dramas and I listen to a lot of c-pop and the only time I ever come across “Shui2” is when non-native speakers pronounce it because it seems to be the more popular pronunciation to teach. (Sorry about the run on sentence) *Fun Fact* in Cantonese, “誰” only has one pronunciation and it is “Seoi4”)
*(I just wanted to point out that this line “總有一扇門等在夜裡” sounds a bit weird in translation. So if it is odd, then I am sorry; I translated it literally because I wasn’t sure if it was slang or not.)
*(In the line, “那個地方叫做家裡,” “地方” (Dì Fāng) has two pronunciations, “Dì Fāng” and “Dì Fang”. Also in this line, the word, “叫做” (Jiào Zuò) can also be written as “叫作” (Jiào Zuò) because both “做” and “作” are pronounced the same in Mandarin. Note that this is not the case in Cantonese because “做” is pronounced “Zou6” and “作” is (Zok3).)
*(In the line, “所有失去都不覺可惜”, “可惜” (Ke Xi) should be pronounced “Kě Xī”. Google Translate has it listed as “Kě Xí” which I am not sure is correct. I went with “Kě Xī” because I didn’t find “Kě Xí” in any dictionary.)
*(In the line, “有什麼成功是一定要的,” “什麼” (Shén Me) has two written forms in Traditional Chinese. The first is “什麼”, using the Simplified version of “Shen” but the Traditional form of “Me” and the second is “甚麼” (Shén Me), using the Traditional forms of both “什” and “麼”. In Taiwan, I believe that “什麼” is more commonly used but I have seen “甚麼” used more frequently in Hong Kong.)
*(In the line, “好開心喲我回家了,” “喲” (Yō) is an interjection that is used at the end of a sentence as an exclamation, or an interjection sound made when expressing surprise. I omitted it from the translation because it’s sort of implied and not relevant to the meaning, but, for example, it is being used in this line because they are exclaiming their happiness, “好開心喲!”.)
*(Sorry that this took so long for me to translate; I have school and house chores to do. I will have the last song posted soon, I promise ^^ Please do not edit my translation or claim it as your own. If you would like to use it, please be sure to credit me properly (I may be credited as either chubgyu.tumblr.com or kimsnugglegyu7.wordpress.com). Remember to always support Popu Lady and c-pop.
